This painting is a view looking into Medford Square from a narrow footbridge over the Mystic River. Now known as the John D. Hand Memorial Bridge, this restored walkway is named after a beloved Medford Cooperative Bank President and one of Medford's strongest community activists. John Hand was an early patron of Carol's, who also encouraged her to create and become involved in the artistic and historical communities.
The painting documents the former Medford Cooperative Bank building prior to its restoration and renaming, and was created as part of an arts grant titled "the Seasons of Medford".
